New Entity for Social Action (NESA) is one of the largest rights based networks in south India comprising of constituents from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry. Under a new 3 year intervention named “Developing Leadership, Preventing Violence and Ensuring Rights of Socially Marginalized Communities in South India supported by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, NESA is calling for applications from young women from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for a 33 month fellowship programme. It intends to build leadership of young women from dalit (focus on Madigas/Arundhatiyar), adivasi, minorities & other marginalized communities in the 3 states. NESA hopes that through this intervention the capacities and resources of the fellows would be substantially enhanced and a new generation of rights based community leaders would emerge in South India from among the marginalized communities. The thematic areas of work is on strengthening community based systems for prevention of Violence on Women and ensuring access to constitutional entitlements and guarantees related to right to work (NREGA), food, health and social justice and political participation.
Fellowship Details : The fellowship will start from May 1st 2010 and end by February 2013. An all inclusive fellowship of Rs 7000/month (TDS applicable) Health Insurance provided.
Availability: 25 fellowships
Criteria: Only for women belonging to Dalit (focus on Madiga/Arundhatiyar/Sakkliyar communities) Adivasi,
Religious and other Minorities, and Workers in the unorganized sector and others.
Age Limit: In between 21 and 35 yrs
Qualifications: A minimum of at least Plus two level qualification is required. Prior involvement and passion in rights based community level work. The fellowship is intended for women who have a vision/ dream and long term interest in working towards transformation in their interest areas.
